With health restrictions becoming just a memory, it’s once again possible for the world’s leading clay court tournament to be a full-scale event. Your Hotel Albe Saint-Michel team offers an overview of what awaits you at the great stadium in the Porte d’Auteuil…
A word about the programme
This year, the tournament will open on May 16th with the qualifying week. The decision was made to let the public enjoy the show as much as possible. The courts, as well as the aisles and relaxation areas, will therefore be accessible all day every day from May 18th. From May 22nd, you can attend the main draw matches as the best players in the world meet in battle. There then follows two weeks of spectacular sporting action leading into the climax of the finals. The women's final will be played on June 4th while the men will compete for the cup the following day.
A wind of change
The French Open is continually reinventing itself. This year unveils the brand-new LED lighting of the Philippe-Chatrier Court. No more will decisive matches be interrupted due to fading light, as the new energy-efficient illumination system will provide ten intense evenings, from May 23rd to June 1st. The event is also becoming more inclusive and unified. You can attend a charity day on May 21 stand the Wheelchair Tennis for All event on June 3rd. An environmentally responsible anti-waste, food labelling and energy policy is also in place and players can donate their equipment to Emmaüs thanks to donation stations placed in the locker rooms.
The French Open 2022 promises to be a great edition. Not only will the tournament reconnect with the festive ambiance for which it’s famous, but it is also taking a resolutely virtuous approach. Don't forget to book your tickets as soon as possible!
